CLI quickstart

Get a project talking to the hub in a few minutes.

1. Initialize

At the root of your project:

bash
ifc init --interactive

This will:

  • Create ifc.yaml (interfaces this project cares about)
  • Create .ifc/ for local copies
  • Update .gitignore if needed
  • Optionally scan for specs to manage

2. Own a local interface

bash
ifc add ./openapi.yaml
# or discover files:
ifc scan
ifc lint
ifc commit

3. Use a remote interface

bash
ifc use ifc7.dev/orgs/ifc7/restapi
ifc fetch

Fetched copies land under .ifc/ (for example .ifc/ifc7.dev/orgs/ifc7/restapi/latest.yaml).

For owned interfaces, after fetch, run ifc checkout to update working-tree files from the local manifest.

4. Push to the hub

bash
ifc login
ifc push

login uses device flow in the browser and stores credentials for later CLI and MCP use.

Typical loop

text
edit specs → lint → commit → push → (release in hub) → fetch elsewhere
